Find Out Here What You Are Missing At Singapore Design Week 2019
Singapore Design Week 2019
–
Singapore Design Week started Monday! The annual SDW brings together a collection of local and international design activities in Singapore. This event is still happening until the 17th of March 2019 and it is open to the design community, businesses, design students, public sector officers, and the general public.
ABOUT SINGAPORE DESIGN WEEK
As one of Asia’s premier design festivals, SDW champions design thought leadership by bringing together the design, business and public policy worlds to bring about innovation and solutions to build businesses, engage communities and enrich people’s lives. It is a hub where the best design talents and businesses from Singapore and Asia converge to be showcased to the world; and a platform where Singaporeans and visitors can experience the value of design through delightful activities.
Through Singapore Design Week, the Council hopes to enhance the synergy among our design partners, and in turn, boost Singapore’s profile and attractiveness as a global city for design.
ABOUT THE VENUE
A cultural and architectural landmark in Singapore, the National Museum hosts innovative activities and events all year round. These include the well-loved Night Festival, visually arresting art installations, as well as performances and film screenings of different styles and genres. You will also find a wide range of facilities and services such as a resource centre which has a growing collection of about 15,000 publications related to cultural studies, design and Singapore’s history.
With a history dating back to 1887, the National Museum of Singapore is the nation’s oldest museum with a progressive mind. Beneath its 19th-century colonial exterior, it uses cutting-edge technology to present the nation’s legacy and development.
THE EXHIBITORS
- URBAN INTERVENTIONS: BRAS BASAH.BUGIS REFRAMED X SINGAPORE DESIGN WEEK 2019
Urban Interventions consists of three design intervention installations awarded through an Open Call for the Bras Basah.Bugis x Singapore Design Week 2019 collaboration. You will get the chance to experience design as the installations, which are located along Queen Street and at the National Design Centre, transform and enliven the street. Interact with these highly “Instagrammable” installations as they offer delightful encounters for visitors both young and old. Urban Interventions: Bras Basah.Bugis x Singapore Design Week 2019 is supported by the National Heritage Board and DesignSingapore Council.
- PROJECT 210
Project 210 is a collaboration between Naumi Hotel Singapore and interior design students from local tertiary institutions, and in partnership with Goodrich Global and SPACE Furniture. The students designed a hotel room that appeals to the next generation of travelers.
The first team to be awarded the coveted opportunity comprises of Nurul Hanis, Nia Astira, Nuri Khairiyyah, and Tracy Lim, final-year Retail and Hospitality Design students from Temasek Polytechnic. Their opening concept for Project 210 is inspired by Tyler the Creator, a creative personality in music, TV, and fashion. The concept uses colour-blocks in bold hues and contrasting graphic prints, making the room vibrant, and above all, playful – a perfect opportunity to capture that picturesque square on social media.
Don’t forget Singapore Design Week is still happening until the 17th of March 2019!
