Baas is considered to be one of the most influential Dutch designers and his works lie on the boundaries between art and design. Today My Design Week is going to show some of his best contemporary designs. Prepare to be amazed:
Baas is known as one of the most influential Dutch designers of the beginning of the 21st century. He is often described as an “author-designer” since his art pieces are incredible storytellers and play with the boundaries between art and design.
Rebellious, playful, intellectual, theatrical and artistic are some of the adjectives used to define his work. In the design field, he is now an unstoppable force, working in a variety of categories, from conceptual design, limited edition furniture, and production design to installations, public spaces, architecture, and interior design or even theatrical design and performances. His masterpieces have an admirable artistic soul.
His works of art were showcased in major museum collections, such as the MoMa, Victoria & Albert Museum, Les Arts Decoratifs, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Die Neue Sammlung, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum. And in private art collections of Brad Pitt, Kanye West, Ian Schrager, and Adam Lindemann.
He also collaborated with exclusive brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Swarovski, Dior, Gramercy Park Hotel, Dom Ruinart and Berluti. Since 2005, Baas collaborates with Bas den Herder.
