Welcome to Portugal: Explore Pablo Pita’s Geometric Forja House
Welcome to Portugal: Explore Pablo Pita’s Geometric Forja House – Located in Portugal’s Alto Douro region, this compact holiday home has an area of rich natural diversity and it was designed for a secluded site in the village of Vila de Muros. Today we are going to show you this incredible design project of Pablo Pita‘s architecture office, take a look:
The studio founded by Pablo Rebelo and Pedro Pita designed Forja House as a contemporary alternative to these traditional buildings, which respond directly to its setting.
The house’s minimal geometric volume is finished with a homogeneous grey render in order to create what the architects described as “a simple gesture, embedded in the slope”.
The internal space is an open plan with views throughout the living areas and a lack of partition walls ensuring an uninterrupted flow of movement.
To focus attention on the views of the forest and the valley beyond through large full-storey openings, they opted for minimal furnishings and a pared-back material palette. On the upper storey, the lounge and dining spaces are positioned at either end of a freestanding timber-clad service core containing the kitchen and a toilet.
The minimal landscaping around the dwelling includes a concrete pool squeezed in against the rocky slope and concrete slabs that provide usable outdoor space.
