As if a competition between Belgian and Dutch Design, on the day before the Dutch Desgin Week in Eindhoven, another great event starts: the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium. Starting this Friday the 17th and until the 26th, this interior design event gathers more than 270 selected design brands, who will have the opportunity to exihibit in 6 extraordinary halls on the outstanding Kortijk Xpo venue.

There at Kortrijk Xpo, exhibitors are given space to redefine the essence of product presentation with unique stands, ‘plug and play‘ islands and dedicated exhibitions. At the same time, Interieur 2014 has a city programme, focusing on new designers and cultural projects – promoting an integrated Design City. Biennale Interieur presents the work of recent graduated designers as well as respected names such as Konstantin Grcic, Philippe Starck, Ross Lovegrove, Muller Van Severen, Nendo and others.

Interieur Awards 2014

Winners are choosen in two categories: objects and space. In the space category, winners are already know: http://www.interieur.be/awards/2014/space

Eyes/Nights Only

Yves Drieghe and Bert Pieters from DRIFT will present Eyes/Nights Only – a residence concept envolving emporary residences, in which designers and brands create an artistic installation reflecting their take on a hotel room.

Design Duos: POOL

There is a trend among the new generation of design – they are working in duos our groups. One of those duos are Léa Padovani and Sebastien Kieffer from Pool. They were called ‘Talents à la carte’ at the 2012 Paris Furniture Show, selected by AD Magazine as ‘Young New Talent’ and they received the ‘VIA label’ for the W&W lighting ceiling system manufactured by Alter. In Kortrijk they will create a site specific installation at the Broel School.

Ventura Interieur

A concept by Organisation in Design (NL) in partnership with Biennale Interieur, Ventura is a curated event on Buda Island in Kortrijk. There will be presented a mix of design projects, design collectives, new brands, art and design academies and design centres. Check out some projects here.

Interieur Bistro

With recommended booking, Interieur Bistro was brought together by Belgian Designers of the Year from 2006 to 2013. The design of the Bistro’s interior underlines the character of the canteen with catering by Delicious Catering from Bruges. The entrance is located near the Guido Gezellepad, next to the historic bridge and the Broel Towers.
