30 days of design, 30 days of an exceptional state

For one month each year Graz, the artistic city of Austria, plays host to a celebration of creative arts. Artists and designers gather at this event that showcases strides made in the field of design. Graz is a popular international tourist destination, and increasingly Design Month is visited by tourists as well as creative professionals from across the world.

With its dense program, Design Month Graz 2013 brought together designers from different branches in the city of Graz from May 3rd until June 2nd and shifted the potential of creative work in the centre of attention. Since 2009, the annual event contributes to the enhancement of the public awareness for design and for the achievements of the national and international creative industry.

With a dense program of 53 events, Design Month Graz 2013 has attracted more than 75.000 people to attend local and international contributions – be it exhibitions, festivals, discussions, conferences or other highlights. This year Design Month focussed on the economic value of Design, introducing lecturers such as Airbus chief designer Paul Edwards and Kone Art Director Anne Stenros at the European Design and Business Dialogue on the first weekend.
