Still on Friday there will be an exhibition related to fashion where science meets fashion. Lilia Yip’s collection investigates her fascination with squid, and a new area of science which deals with the reconstruction of nature. We now possess the ability to alter and create new organisms that function to our design. But what if we go too far? In response to this fear and fascination, her collection uses the lab coat as a starting point for both artwork and pattern cutting. The lab coat is abstracted into various cuts as it fuses with circular squid shapes. Man and squid are one. The exhibition will showcase the SQUIDCUT garments and cutting, with photography by Italian photographer Nicol Vizioli.
