I’m Your Mirror By Joana Vasconcelos At Serralves Foundation

Born in Paris, in 1971, Joana Vasconcelos is one of the best-known artists from her generation. Joana Vasconcelos is a renowned Portuguese plastic artist that has been exhibiting her works since the mid-1990s. Her work gained international attention after her participation in the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005, with the piece “A Noiva” (The Bride), when it was installed at the entrance of the main exhibition. Vasconcelos’ creative process is based on the appropriation and decontextualization of everyday objects and realities, with criticism of contemporary society. She was the first woman and the youngest artist to exhibit at the Palace of Versailles, in 2012, and some of the recent highlights of her career include a solo exhibition at Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

The entry on this wonderful art world costs 15€ or 12€ depending if you want to visit just the Museum and the Park, or if you also want to see the House. However, on the first Sundays of every month, there’s a free entrance in the Serralves Foundation until 13:00, so don’t forget to visit “I’m Your Mirror”, from Joana Vasconcelos on the Serralves Foundation.
