The Best Of IMM Cologne 2019
The Best Of IMM Cologne 2019 – Another incredible edition of IMM Cologne has ended, but we already miss the event! As always, the German tradeshow was filled with the most exceptional stands from hundreds of luxury brands. Today, My Design Week will show you some of the highlights of this amazing trade show. Take a look:
THE STANDS
CATTALAN ITALIA
The protagonists of Cattalan Italia’s stands were furnishings such as Planer Wood C with Brushed Bronze finish and the beautiful round tables Skorpio and Soho Ker-Wood. Of course, leather chairs were also in the spotlight, specifically Belinda, Kelly, Wanda and Kay Couture.
FLEXFORM
Once again Flexform showed that it still retains the values commonly associated with the brand: the restrained elegance, its coherent design style, as well as the timeless beauty of its products, combined with the unparalleled comfort.
Delightfull took a great risk by reinterpreting mid-century lighting design. Inspired by the art from the art from the 40s to 70s, the brand created fresh classic lamps with the progress of colors and materials of modern décor. Truly a lighting marvel to look at.
POLTRONA FRAU
“The Home Collection Evolution” was the name of Poltrona Frau’s latest collection. The stand of this brand was filled with circular shaped furniture and tables as well as earth tones in many of the furnishings.
We’ve spoken previously of Delightfull, however, Essential Home also made a presence in the same stand as the lighting brand. These two brands have teamed up this year to show and promote the best of mid-century luxury furniture at the event. And judging by the images we’d say they succeeded.
POLIFORM
Poliform is an Italian luxury modern furniture brand, that offers high-quality furniture, closets, wall systems, and kitchens for any space. It provides custom made cabinetry for closets, bookcases, and kitchens.
DAS HAUS
This year’s edition, Imm cologne chose the Australian designer couple Truly Truly, who has captivated many in the design industry since their firm’s formation in 2014.
With the blank slate of a 600-square-foot booth, each year’s Das Haus designer determines the installation’s layout and structure while also choosing materials, colors, finishes, furniture, and accessories.
Studio Truly Truly developed its Das Haus installation, that’s on view until January 20, by delineating different areas based on various moods.
The Australian-born, Rotterdam-based duo developed the home concept around a central kitchen; the surrounding spaces easily transition from private to public functions.
IMM Cologne’s Pure Talents Contest
The designer Ilja Huber won first prize at the IMM Cologne’s Pure Talents Contest with his lamp “Baschnja” that’s made of three elements that can be placed together or as separate units anywhere in a room.
Nendo’s Melt Collection
Nendo is a Japanese Designer that discovered that by slumping fluid glass sheets over steel pipes and allowing it to drape under its own weight, the glass essentially shapes itself.
This idea was the inspiration for Melt Collection that was shown for the first time at the IMM Cologne. Melt Collection is a group of furniture and tabletop objects that it’s made in transparent and colorless glass.
