What is Sleep event
The Sleep Event, Europe’s annual destination for the hotel architecture and design community, celebrates its tenth edition at London’s Business Design Centre on 24 and 25 November with a series of installations exploring new territories in hotel design, a conference programme featuring industry thought-leaders and topical debates, and an exhibition of products selected for their quality, innovation and diversity.
Sleep Set competition
Five design teams are participating in this year’s Sleep Set built-room competition. Drawing on the essence of fairy tales and folklore around the world, The Studio at Harrods, Areen Hospitality, Shaun Clarkson ID, Oliver Heath Design in collaboration with Interface Hospitality, and Anita Rosato Interior Design will each weave their own story into a guestroom concept that touches on the human condition while playing with perceptions, to engage and nurture the guest in new ways.

Each will explain their response to the brief during a conference session, with the winning team announced on 24 November at 7 pm in the Sleep Bar. The judges for Sleep Set 2015 are Katy Ghahremani, Partner at MAKE Architects, Erik Nissen Johansen, Founder and Creative Director of Stylt Trampoli and Javier Hortal, Director of Technical Services at Mandarin Oriental.
Sleep Bar
Re-imagined afresh each year, the Sleep Bar (in association with Sleeper) is the social hub of the event, and hospitality design specialists Conran+Partners are harnessing of the power of storytelling through wonder tales with a design inspired by Lewis Carroll’s timeless Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. The design team aims to challenge the familiar concept of what a bar should be and visitors can expect to see “a kind of hyper-charged reality, with some unexpected perspectives, reflections, and upside-down-ness!” says Tina Norden, project director.
