2014 World’s Top Christmas Destinations
Christimas is the best time of year. A time to be spent with our loved ones, and it doesn’t matter where, as long as you are together. Because Christmas is my favourite holiday, last year I wrote about the most festive Christimas cities, this year I give you the top destinations to spend Christmas at.
New York city, NY, USA – Christmas in New York is timeless and beautiful. Apart from the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and the Christimas windows on 5th avenue, a carriage ride through Central Park is just magical.
Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Dutch brought us Sinterklass a a bearded gift-giver who rewards good children who is their ‘version’ of St. Nick. Sinterklass visits on the 5th December (Saint Nicholas’ Eve), meaning the Dutch celebrate Christmas twice: toys and presents on the fifth, and family and food on the 25th.
Toronto, Canada – Canadians love Christmas and know how to celebrate it with style. Here you can enjoy hiking, snowshoeing and snowmobiling
Cologne, Germany – most german cities have an irresistable Christmas vibe, Cologne is one of them. Cologne hosts eight Christmas markets on both sides of the Rhine. If you are there, don’t forget to try the Glühwein.
Napapiiri, Lapland, Finland – a place that needs no introduction as it is Santa’s official home. Visitors can enjoy the Christmas theamed parks: Santa Claus Village and Santa Park.
Aspen, CO, USA – Aspen is Colorado’s most famous mountain town and ski resort area.
Paris, France – the ‘city of light’ as strings of white lights in all shapes line the boulevards and shopping streets and when high-end stores put on elaborate Christmas windows that attract crowds from all over the world. Don’t miss out on the Christmas market on the Champs Elysées and the Christmas parades at Disneyland.
