10 Halloween Destinations Around The World
Halloween is one of my favourite holidays, specially the mystical and scary atmosphere. Last year,I talked about the World’s Greatest Halloween Festivals, and on a similar topic in 2014 I present you 10 Halloween Destinations around the World.
Salem, Massachusetts, USA – known as the “Witch City” due to numerous cultural events and traditions and, of course, the Salem Wicht trials in the 17th century. Make sure to visit Witch Museum and the Old Harbour.
Sedlec Ossuary, Kutna Hora, Czech Republic – the Sedlec Ossuary is a small chapel with skeletons of thousand of people displayed in unique constructions. (creeeeeeppppyyyyy)
Transylvania, Romania – the ‘birth place’ of Vampires and the most famous of them all: Count Dracula.
New Orleans, Louisiana, USA – a city known for its voodoo traditions, during Halloween New Orleans has numerous festivals and events. Don’t miss out on the Hermann-Grima house and the Voodoo Music Festival. There is also a strange tradition, the Halloween weddings.
Ottawa, Canada – it is where one of the biggest spider sculptures in the world, right in front of the National Gallery of Canada. There is also a Halloween Carnival.
Greenwich Village, New York, USA – known for the huge annual holiday parade for Halloween.
Hill of Crosses, Lithuania – famous for the countless crosses (there are over some thousands of crosses) with different sizes, shapes, colors and ornaments.
Cancun, Mexico – where Halloween is known as the Day of the Dead.
Key West, Florida, USA – home of the Fantasy Fest where naked men and women with extravagant body paintings.
Londonderry, Northern Ireland – popular places include the St. Columb’s Cathedral, the St. Eugene’s Cathedral, the Bishop Street Within and the Bishops Street Gate.
