Maison et Objet Designer of the Year
Congratulations to Dorothée Meilichzon who is named M&O PARIS designer of the year in September 2015. Dorothée Meilichzon is an industrial designer who was firstly working in Paris. The designer was trained at Strate College Designers and at the Rhode Island School of Design where she studied toy design. At the age of 27, Dorothée set up her own design studio, carried by the momentum of her first project, the interior design for the Prescription Cocktail Club in Paris (Saint-Germain-des-Près).
The multipurpose agency CHZON opened in summer 2009. Always seeking out new trends, Dorothée takes her inspiration from everything around, especially from the great names in decor: Madeleine Castaing, Dorothy Draper, Fornasetti, David Hicks, Gio Ponti, Charles and Ray Eames and François-Xavier Lalanne.

The designer has a wish to work as closely as possible with craftsmen, to create unique pieces and to highlight hand-made creation. Dorothée Meilichzon puts the finishing touches to her historically charged decor with a few contemporary pieces, often from small craft collections. Besides, Dorothée is not seeking to create highly specialist decors, but places with a real personality, a clean atmosphere and a setting that invites people to exchange, share and make discoveries.
Dorothée Meilichzon has designed interiors in London, New York and Ibiza. A hotel and numerous bars and restaurants which bear little resemblance, but which are all united by the same atmosphere. Among the design projects of the designer in Paris, there is now the very fine Hôtel Paradis and the Café Pinson in the 10th arrondissement, and in the 1st, the Beef Club, the Ballroom and the Fish Club.
